New changes relating to dependants of Turkish citizens came into force on 1st June 2009.
Bringing the visa application definition of ‘dependants’ of Turkish citizens in to line with other European countries, even though Turkey is not a full member of the EU.

The UK Border Agency’s latest focus on making local immigration services more visible and accessible to the communities they serve is highlighted by the new ‘one stop shop’ provision opened in Northern Ireland.
The Belfast-based office will be one of the 70 different immigration teams across the UK which has been established to provide a value-added, locally-focused service. This newly-created office, which opened on 22nd July, will employ around 60 staff under one roof, bringing together a wide range of immigration experience and services to benefit the local community.

August 2009 has seen the proposed introduction of a new points-based test for UK citizenship.
Rather like the current Australian scheme, the UK Border Agency is looking at ways to increase the ‘earned citizenship’ which is at the heart of a number of proposed changes to the UK immigration situation in what is seen as a major reform of the existing rules.

Administrative changes at the British Consulate in Wellington, New Zealand mean that this office is no longer processing UK settlement visa applications, including fiancée, proposed civil partner, unmarried partner and spouse visa applications.
